4:00-4:10 Welcome and Announcements
4:10-5:30 Legislative and Board Policy Ideas
- Early Education–Constitutional Amendment on Early Learning—Members spoke with Jacce Mikulanec about ConAm by phone. Most members are for a “No” vote. They believe in universal pre-school for all. Whatever the outcome, the groups agreed to try to work together to come to a consensus on how to create best opportunity for all four year olds.
- A little over 17,000 four year olds in the state
- Roughly $7300 per child for $125 million
- 5800 were in Junior Kindergarten
Corey Rosenlee identified three issues of priority
- Air Conditioning
- Teacher Pay
- Instructional Minutes
Sue Emley brought up priority issues for PPS
- Youth Risk Behavior Survey—Cheri explained that there is a potential for this issue to be resolved
- Safe Routes to School –Sue explained that recently, there was a training by DOT that shed some light on that process.
- Breakfast after the Bell
Learning First shared their priority issues
- Chronic Absenteeism—State protocol—process flawed
- Graduation Rates—question protocol
- Class size – Challenging BOE Policy 2237
