HE’E welcomes Executive Director of the Hawaii Charter School Commission Tom Hutton to have a conversation about Charter School contract renewal criteria. The Commission aims to get the Charter Schools as well as other stakeholders to comment on the criteria. A decision on the criteria is planned for October 2015. All of the information on the proposed renewal criteria, including recordings of webinars, are available at this site here.
HE’E also invites the Department of Education Government Affairs Specialist Malia Espinda to speak briefly about at the teacher travel issue that has been in the news recently. Since there appears to be some confusion about the matter, Malia will present the facts and the status of the situation. In addition, Department of Education Director of Policy, Innovation, Planning, and Evaluation Stephanie Shipton will present and solicit feedback on the DOE’s proposed refinements to their ESEA Flexibility Waiver.
