HEʻE Planning Meeting, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 9:00-11:00am at The Learning Coalition (Validated Parking at Harbor Court Parking Garage, 66 Queen Street. See map here.) HEʻE would like to welcome David Miyashiro, Executive Director of HawaiiKidsCAN, a locally-led advocacy non-profit organization committed to ensuring every student in our community has access to an excellent education. David will be introducing HawaiiKidsCan at the Planning Meeting. In addition, we are pleased to have Education Incubator in partnership with Hawaii Green Growth facilitate a 30-45 minute focus group for the development of Aloha + Statewide Goals for green workforce and education. Questions will focus on the intersections between green workforce, education, and overall community resiliency and sustainability.
The Aloha+ Challenge is a statewide sustainability commitment led by Hawaii’s Governor, the four County Mayors, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the State Legislature, and public private partners across the state. Building on Hawaii’s ancestral knowledge and systems thinking, the Aloha+ Challenge identifies six integrated sustainability goals to be achieved by 2030, in the areas of clean energy, local food, natural resource management, waste reduction, smart sustainable communities, and green workforce and education. These clear achievable goals provide a framework to set priorities, catalyze action, and track progress.
